I obsess over all sorts of things. Obsessing is fun! I am currently obsessing over my hair. Normally, when I find I no longer like my hair, I breakdown and go and get it cut. But I did this already in the spring when I was in Cal. There I spent $100 (!) to get highlights. I still didn’t like my hair so I spent $65 on a barely-there light trim. It was crap. So when I got back home I got a 65 Euro “hair removal”. There was no styling, just removal of about 2 inches of my hair. Now let’s see, that’s $260 worth of haircare and my hair still looks like crap! I had thought I would put off cutting my hair until Christmas. But my sister is coming out and we are going to Oktoberfest and the opera in Vienna. I don’t want to feel ugly. So I decided it’s time to try again. I am going for “wash and wear” hair. Not fussy. Here are my optional hairstyles with some added as suggestions for others.

Jan, we all have dispair with our hair. However, not one of these styles is wash and wear for YOUR hair. If I told you how much I’ve spent on my hair your would pale. Here’s an idea I’ve had for many, many years. Wigs. All the celebrities have wigs. In a recent article, Cher explained that no one has seen her real hair in years. Yes, she still has long hair, but she wears so many different styles that she says suit her mood, that her own hair can’t compete. The added bonus is you can have a change of hair color in the matter of seconds. Of course, you need to purchase top quality, human hair wigs, not acrylic. But for the $260 you paid for hair that you say you aren’t happy with, you could have a beautiful wig. Think about it, no more bad hair days!

Well, Jan, I like the one you say is your favorite, but I always thought you looked cool with your pixie cut. Come to think of it, though, I don’t even know if your hair is naturally curly. How weird considering how much time we spent griping about hair when we were both over there!

I like your favorite one also. I don’t think you can get a quality wig for less than a grand- it would work for fancy-dress-up, but we both know how often we get fancy and dress up. Besides, Cher has a hair entourage. My entourage must be stuck in traffic with my cleaning lady and personal trainer. Bottom line: it’s only hair.
